The best festivities…

There is not season or month during the year that Fuengirola doesn´t have any kind of festivity to enjoy an special time. It doesn´t matter which are your interests or age, you will always find a good reason to join the party in Fuengirola 🙂

If we take a tour for all the year, we have the following dates that I recommend you to book in your agenda:

JANUARY

Procession of the three Kings : The afternoon of 5th January is the much-anticipated for the smallest of the house. The streets are filled with children, floats, music and colors to welcome the Three Kings who deliver tons of goodies. The famous Procession of the three Kings parades through the streets of Fuengirola, where children and adults enjoy of an unique moment full of excitement and wishes.

FEBRUARY

Carnival:  In the Plaza de la Constitucion takes place a Carnival party with costumes, music and a lot of fun. People go out to the street dressed up in the most interesting costumes with a fest mood. Also in the night the pubs and bars are full of people celebrating the carnival. It is usually celebrated the last week of February.

Andalucia day: Every 28 February is celebrated the Andalusia day. This date commemorates the referendum celebrated in 1980, where Andalusia was recognized as autonomous region. In the street there is a fest atmosphere,  music and commemorative activities take place in several streets.

MARCH/ APRIL

Easter: this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy of the famous Easter processions full of passion and devotion. During one week and every day the processions take the streets to live an special and intense week. The streets of Fuengirola, and of course of Malaga, are full of people living with passion these days. 

San Patricio day: Also in Fuengirola is celebrated this famous fest from Ireland “Saint Patrick”. All the Irish pubs as the famous Pog´s with live music, hold different events this day.

APRIL/ MAY

International People´s Fair (Feria de los Pueblos): It takes place in late April, early May, where more than 30 countries show their culture, cuisine, crafts and folklore. A great multicultural event which last year attracted one million visitors. It is celebrated in the famous “Recinto Ferial” of Fuengirola.

In this Fair you will have the opportunity to discover and enjoy another cultures, listening music and tasting the gastronomy  of countries as England, Ireland, Finland, Norwegian, Germany, Canada, United States, Japan, many south American countries, and a large list of countries included Spain. It is a wonderful mixture of people from different parts of the world that makes this Fair really special.  It is the essence of Fuengirola, where the multiculture is celebrated 🙂

JUNE

NIght of San Juan: On the night of June 23 to 24, many people moves to the beach at sunset, to celebrate the night of San Juan with friends, family, food and drink. Even you can rent a boat, placed on the sand, prepared to barbecue. The nicht culminates with numerous fires on the beach, people dancing and swimming at midnight. The tradition says that jumping over the fire, or swimming at midnight give you a year of lucky. It says also, that if you write in a paper your wishes and then it is burnt in the fire, your wishes will be accomplished.  It is worthy to try it ;)…Anyway you can enjoy until dawn the warm night , celebrating also the official start of summer.

JUNE/JULY/AUGUST

Concerts and  Events in the castle Sohail: In the incomparable setting of the Moorish castle situated on a hill by the sea and next to the river Fuengirola takes place during the summer months a large number of concerts and festivals. In this incomparable place, every year world-renowned artists and a motivated public meet to enjoy of magic nights. Beer Festival: the famous Beer festival in honour of the Oktoberfest in Munich takes place also in the castle Sohail. The date is not always the same, sometimes and the end of July or in August. In this festival you can taste traditional dishes from Germany and of course beer.

Virgen del Carmen: On the afternoon of July 16 takes place the maritime procession of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen. It is a beautiful and touching procession, where the Virgin is carried into the sea among hundreds of flowers.

Medieval Market of Fuengirola: During the month of August (the date changes every year) takes place also in the castle Sohail a journey to the medieval time where you can enjoy of folk music, performance by minstrels, troubadours and many others activities. Also you can enjoy the work of artisans and merchants, old crafts, taverns and food stall to enjoy gastronomy.

OCTOBER

Fuengirola Fair: This fair, also called Feria del Rosario, is one of the most important in Andalusia, where the horse has an outstanding relevance and people are dessed up in their traditional costumes. The streets are filled with carriages and a festive atmosphere throughout the day and at night the party and dance continue at the fairgrounds. Fair begins day 6 and ends the day 12 of October, it is celebrated in the Fairground of Fuengirola.

NOVEMBER

Halloween in Fuengirola: Costumes, trick or threat and special events take place in Fuengirola during Halloween. A celebration that every year is more and  more popular. People concentrate In the Plaza de la Constitucion where is organized raffles, smoke cannons, costumes, music…  Definitely a fun night.  

Christmas Market:  At the end of November the Fuengirola Christmas Market is installed in the Plaza la Constitucion. It is recreated a Christmas village with wooden stalls and where different products are offered as Christmas decorations, gifts, Christmas products of all kinds, sweets, goodies, cookies…

DECEMBER

Christimas in Fuengirola: The streets are filled with festive spirit, light and color to celebrate what is the most special time of the year. The Christmas lights of the towns along the Costa del Sol are famous and inviting you to take a walk and simply enjoy this special atmosphere. The spirit of Christimas feels wherever you go, tradicitional food, music, lights, concerts, markets and everyone´s great mood makes you feel special and glorious.
