Your holiday place

Most of you arrive by plane to Malaga Airport and then Fuengirola, so I think this post is worth it 😉 From my experience when I travel, one of the prio things I check is how to reach the apartment without stress 🙂

Fuengirola is 24,8 kms from Málaga International Airport, in this post you will find a complete information about the different ways you have to get Fuengirola from Malaga Airport. Really easy, you will see. You can choose rent a car, taxi, bus or train:

BY CAR

For getting from Malaga airport to Fuengirola using a car the road you must take is the A-7, also known as Autovia del Mediterraneo. Fuengirola is 25 kms from Málga Airport. Getting to Fuengirola would take you approximately 22 minutes if using a car.

Thanks to the wide range of car companies at the airport, it is common to find deals and cheap prices, although it is recommended to book in advance due to high demand ( specially in summer season ) and so pick up your car upon arrival.
Later, you can return it at the airport or at any other point you agree with the rental company. If you have rented a car at a different office during your stay in Fuengirola, you can also return it in the airport before taking your plane.

In the Málaga airport you will find car rental desks as:  Sixt, Europcar, Avis, Hertz…

TAXI from Málaga Airport to Fuengirola

The public taxis are located just outside Málaga airport so they’re easy to spot, plus you don’t have to book one in advance. The price taxi from Málaga airport to Fuengirola is about 35 Eur. The journey takes aprox. 22 minutes (25 kms) . Here you can find the telephone numbers.

TRAIN from Málaga Airport to Fuengirola

The train station is located in the airport, outside the terminal. It is easy to reach it, just follow the train signal. When you arrive to the train station you will find a vending machine, where you must buy the thicket. Without ticket it will not be possible to enter in the platform, because there is a turnstile where the ticket must be inserted.

Please keep the ticket until you arrive Fuengirola, because there you will find another turnstile, where you must insert again the ticket to go out of the station.  The cost of the ticket is in this moment 3,60 Eur/ person.  If you are going to travel regularly by train it is cheaper to buy a 10 trips ticket.

The frequency of the trains is each 20 minutes.

From Malaga airport to Fuengirola: *First train: 05:32 hr *Last train: 23:42 hr

From Malaga Airport to Fuengirola there are several  stops (about  12), the entire journey takes aprox.  46 minutes. Fuengirola is the last station.

Once in Fuengirola you can go walking to the apartement, it takes about 15 minutes, or take a taxi. There is a taxi station near the train station.

From Fuengirola to Málaga Airport : *First train: 06:10 hr *Last train: 23:50 hr

BUS from Málaga Airport to Fuengirola

There is no direct linking to Fuengirola from the airport by bus, you will need to transfer at Torremolinos bus station. The bus from Airport to Torremolinos is aprox. every hour (even more in summer) and the stop is outside the airport. It is not difficult to find it if you ask someone around airport (There is not bus from Malaga airport to Torremolinos in Winter).
